Maoist Center picks two lawmakers to be ministers in Province 2

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has picked its two lawmakers to be ministers in Province 2 government.

A meeting of the Maoist Center parliamentary party (PP) in the province Friday picked PP leader Bharat Sah to be a minister and Ruby Karna as a minister of state, said Chief Whip Dilip Kumar Sah.

Sah was elected a provincial lawmaker from Mahottari Constituency 1 ‘B’ while Karna became a lawmaker through proportional representation. Sah and Karna will take oath as ministers Saturday, said Chief Whip Sah. However, their ministerial portfolios are yet to be determined.

The Upendra Yadav faction of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) sacked ministers of the Mahantha Thakur faction and gave three ministries to the Nepal Congress on June 9, 2021. The Maoists were not eager to join the government then as ministerial portfolios allocation was not clear at the time.
