NC active membership probe committee member thrashed

KATHMANDU: Shyam Ghimire, a member of the Nepali Congress (NC) active membership probe committee, has been thrashed over the issue of active membership in Sindhupalchowk Friday.

A group of people attacked Shyam Ghimire in the afternoon while they went to him to discuss active memberships in Sindhupalchowk. Earlier in the morning, central member Mohan Basnet had also threatened him over the issue, he said.

According to Ghimire, 1,200 people have joined the NC from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. However, the probe committee could not prescribe handing over active membership after complaints were filed.

The probe committee is preparing to recommend recognizing only active members of the 13th General Convention.
