Monsoon to be active from Saturday

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that monsoon would be more active from Saturday.

Issuing a bulletin Friday, the Department said that light to moderate rain has been forecast at most of the places of the country as there was a possibility of the development of the monsoon low pressure system near the Terai region of Nepal from Saturday to Monday as well as the moisture-laden wind from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.

Likewise, some places of Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces as well as some places of the remaining provinces will witness heavy rainfall.

The Department has urged all to adopt necessary precautions as there is a risk of landslide in hilly areas and flood at Terai areas.

The sky throughout the country has now remained cloudy and some places of Province no 1, Province no 2, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and one or two places of the remaining provinces have been experiencing light to moderate rain.

Likewise, light to moderate rainfall has been predicted at most of the places across the nation as well as heavy rainfall at some places of Sudurpachim, Lumbini and Gandaki provinces on Saturday.

As per the recent details of the Meteorological Forecasting Division, Kathmandu Valley recorded 2.2 millimeters rainfall on Friday.
