UML’s Standing Committee meeting underway in Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the CPN-UML is underway at Chyasal of Lalitpur district.

Members of the Standing Committee are discussing the party’s official stance on the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court’s decision on the issue.

UML Chairperson KP Oli had dissolved the House of Representatives for the second time on May 22 when he was the Prime Minister.

The Supreme Court had reinstated the HoR.

The meeting of the reinstated Parliament is being held on July 18 at 4 pm.

Likewise, the meeting is also likely to raise the issue of the 10-point agreement reached by the task force during the meeting, a party source said.

Meanwhile, leaders of the task force representing the Madhav Nepal faction held talks with Chairman KP Oli and General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel prior to the Standing Committee meeting.

Sources said that the disgruntled faction had asked the party leadership to postpone today’s meeting.

According to Subash Nemwang, coordinator of the task force, the meeting with Chairman Oli was scheduled before the Standing Committee meeting at the request of the Madhav faction task force members.
