KATHMANDU: The Lumbini Province government is making preparations to bring the budget through ordinance.

The ordinance has been passed after the House failed to endorse the budget.

The ruling CPN-UML boycotted the meeting after the opposition coalition prepared to thwart the budget.

UML had boycotted the meeting seeking time for further discussions as it did not get a majority to pass the budget in the House.

Ruling party CPN-UML lawmakers walked out of the Province Assembly meeting demanding time to reach a consensus on the issue.

Even though the speaker gave half an hour for discussion, no agreement was reached between the ruling party and the opposition alliance.

The meeting of the Province Assembly was adjourned till 1 pm on Friday after there was no discussion between the ruling party and the opposition alliance.

Opposition groups have been questioning the legitimacy of the government.

The Province Chief prorogued the ongoing session effective from Thursday midnight on the recommendation of the government.
