KARNALI: The Karnali Province Government has unveiled the new budget for the fiscal year 201/22 through ordinance as the budget could not pass from the Province Assembly.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held Thursday night recommended two ordinances to the Province Chief relating to the budget.
On the recommendation of the government, Province Chief Govinda Prasad Kalauni issued ‘Karnali Province Appropriation Ordinance, 2078’ and ‘Karnali Province Economic Ordinance, 2078’ on Thursday night, the Office of the Province Chief said.
In a statement released from the Secretary of Office of the Province Chief Thakur Prasad Sigdel stated that those two ordinances were issued from the Province Chief in accordance to Article 202 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal.
Despite the Province Government tabled its budget of Rs 36.54 billion on June 15, the Province Assembly meeting could not held following the obstruction from the main opposition CPN (UML).
Meanwhile, Internal Affairs and Law Minister of Karnali Province Sita Nepali said that the Province Government was obliged to opt for ordinance to bring its budget due to the province assembly obstruction from the main opposition CPN (UML).
Prior to this, the Province Government ended the budget session of from last midnight. After the issuance of the ordinances, the Province Government has received legal authority to implement the new budget for the fiscal year 2078/079.
