Woman dies when a rivulet sweeps her away



KASKI: A woman of Machhapuchhre rural municipality-1 in Kaski died when a flood-fed rivulet swept her away.

Ward Chairperson Birendra Gurung informed that the Khahare rivulet took away 40-year-old Leeladevi Pariyar of Tuse at around 8.30 pm last night.

Locals and police found her body some 25 meters down from the incident site. A police team from Ghachowk had taken out the dead body from the rivulet and affidavit-related work of the incident is to be undertaken today, said Spokesperson of the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subas Hamal.

Police said the investigation is being undertaken into the incident. The water level has soared in the rivers and rivulets of the district due to incessant rainfall for a couple of days.

Rural roads have been disrupted due to landslides triggered by torrential rain.

Issuing a notice on Tuesday evening, the District Administration Office cautioned the people towards the incidents of flood, inundation, and landslide in the vulnerable area with the rising water current in Seti, Mardi, Madi, Sardi, Bijayapur, and Harpan of the district.

The DAO also urged the public to inform the administration in case of a high risk or tragic incident of any natural disaster. RSS
