Coronavirus infection common in younger age group

KATHMANDU: As COVID-19 cases continue to climb, a misconception spreading with the illness is that it affects the elderly while sparing younger people.

However, younger people, too, are affected by COVID 19 with asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic infection.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, most of the infected people in the last 10 days are in the age group of 20-39 years.

During that period, as many as 40,810 people in that age group were infected.

In the same period, the total number of infected people aged 60 years and above was 10,128, according to the statistics.

In the last 10 days, as many as 30,682 people in the age group of 20-39 years have been infected more than those in the age group of 60 years and above.
