Farmer dies in elephant attack



SAPTARI: A farmer died in elephant attack at Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality in the district this morning.

The marauding elephant come from Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve attacked and killed 58-year-old Narayan Pranami from Bhardaha in the municipality, said Ganga Prasad Saha.

Ranger at Reserve Jayram Neupane and team of Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, reached the place of incident after the news, according to warden Ashok Ram.

He further said preparations were on to take the dead body to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital for postmortem.

Pranami was trampled while he was inspecting the wheat field, locals said.
