Oli faction objects to rival camp’s conclave



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli’s faction of the CPN-UML has formally raised objection against Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal faction’s planned national conclave.

Nepal-Khanal faction is preparing to hold a two-day national gathering on March 17 and 18. About 2,000 UML cadres of the Nepal-Khanal faction are expected to attend the gathering.

The Oli faction has issued a press release on the UML letterhead and signed by UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel stating that the party’s attention was drawn towards information published regarding such convention.

The press release states, “Serious attention of the party has been drawn by information published regarding such national gathering.” It clarifies that the party has not called any such gathering.

The press release directs the party rank and file to abstain from organizing and promoting such unauthorized and unlawful assembly. The party also warns of action against those involved in such activities in accordance with party rules, regulation and constitution.
