KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday morning attended the Basanta Shrawan ritual at Nasalchowk in Hanumandhoka Durbar Square on the occasion of Shree Panchami.

President Bhandari listened to verses recited by priests at the auspicious hour as recommended by the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee.

The President received tika and prasad from the priests.

On the occasion, Prime Minister KP Oli, Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Speaker Agni Sapkota, Chairman of National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina among others listened to the verses and received tika and prasad.

President Bhandari was offered a guard of honor by a contingent of the Nepal Army.

There is a tradition that the President as the head of the nation listens to the verses on the occasion of Basanta Panchami every year.
