PM Cup Cricket: APF makes winning start defeating Province 1 by 35 runs



KATHMANDU: The departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has made a winning start to the ongoing Prime Minister’s Cup One-Day National Men’s Cricket Tournament underway in Kathmandu.

APF got off to a winning start by defeating Province 1 by 35 runs in the match played on Saturday.

Chasing down 244 runs target by APF, Province 1 managed to get only 108 run on the board losing all wickets in 42.4 overs.

Opener Minash Thapa top-scored with 18 runs off 44 balls with two boundaries.

Similarly, Firdos Ansari (17), Deepesh Kandel (16), Deepak Paswan (13) and Joshak Khadka contributed unbeaten 12 runs.

APF’s Abhinash Bohara bowled well to wrap up Province 1 cheaply. Bohara took five wickets giving away 18 runs in 10 overs with six maidens.

Similarly, Kishore Mahato and Captain Sharad Veswakar took one wicket each while Basant Regmi grabbed two wickets for 13 runs in 10 overs with three maidens.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss, APF notched-up 243 runs in 48.4 overs losing all wickets.

Opener Asif Sheikh top-scored with 59 off 32 balls with five sixes and six fours.

Similarly, Basanta Regmi scored 40 runs, Sandeep Jora 30 runs, captain Sharad Veswakar 20 runs, Subash Khakurel and Kishore Mahato 19 runs each while Sumit Maharjan scored 14 runs and Abhinash Bohara scored six runs.
