JANAKPURDHAM: Two ordinances have been tabled in a session of the Provincial Assembly of Province no 2 today.

Minister for Social Development Nawal Kishor Sah presented the two ordinances. The Province Assembly meeting has been adjourned until 1 pm on December 23 with this, Speaker Saroj Yadav said.

The two ordinances are the Ordinance related to the Province Agriculture University, 2021, and the Ordinance Related to the Province Technical University, 2021.

In the beginning, the main opposition party in the Assembly, the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, had obstructed the meeting, citing they would not allow the ordinances to be tabled.

Chief Whip of the party Parameshwor Sah said the meeting has been obstructed as the ordinances were undemocratic and introduced evading the Provincial Assembly session.

He said the main opposition party would obstruct the Assembly business until the ordinances are withdrawn.
Speaker Yadav cited the rule that the government had the right to introduce ordinances and it was the job of the government to explain the circumstances of bringing the legislation.

He urged the opposition party not to obstruct the meeting.

The Assembly meeting was adjourned for 15 minutes after the opposition legislators continued with their obstruction. The ordinances were tabled in the meeting that started after this recess.

CM Raut’s resignation sought

During the session, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party sought the resignation of Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut. Party parliamentary leader Jitendra Sonal demanded the CM quit the post and clear the way ahead for his (alleged) irregularities in the procurement of bicycles under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save Daughter, Educate Daughter Campaign) launched by the Province 2 Government.

The leader reminded the session that following the confiscation of procurement documents by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, the CM promised to pave the way if the irregularities were proved. “ The CIAA during the preliminary investigation cited the irregularities in the procurement.”

Sonal also protested the Ordinances. As he said he saw no relevance and emergency to establish the Universities and termed the introduction of documents as the undermining of democratic and republic system.
