KATHMANDU: Chyawanprash is a nutritious jam, widely recommended by Ayurveda for its wide spectrum of health benefits. In Sanskrit, the word Prash means specially prepared food.

Two ancient sages reportedly formulated it for restoring youth to an elderly sage Chyawan- hence named Chyawanprash.

Chyawanprash is a blend of different herbs, amla, ghee, sesame oil, and honey.

Ghee, sesame oil, and honey serve as catalytic agents to carry herbs deep into the cells while honey helps in neutralizing and safeguarding the effects of other major ingredients.

About Dabur Chyawanprash

Dabur Chyawanprash is based on ancient Ayurvedic formulation of over 40 herbs and other ingredients.   4. The quantity for 3-12 years old children is 0.5 teaspoons twice daily.

Key Findings of Dabur Chyawanprash Clinical study on Covid-19

A large-scale, multi-centric clinical study was conducted on healthy subjects to evaluate the beneficial role of Dabur Chyawanprash as a preventive remedy for COVID-19 infection in India.

The total participants were 696. Out of those 696 subjects, 351 belonged to the Chyawanprash group and 345 belonged to the control group not taking Chyawanprash.

The results of the study revealed that the regular consumption of Dabur Chyawanprash reduced the risk of COVID-19 infection by up to 12 times among the tested in comparison to the control group who did not consume Dabur Chyawanprash.

It was also observed that those who consumed Dabur Chyawanprash regularly experienced up to 6 times lesser severity of symptoms of COVID 19 infections as compared to subjects in the control group who did not consume Dabur Chyawanprash.

The severity of COVID-19 was assessed as per the ordinal scale published by the World Health Organization for COVID-19. The overall quality of life was improved 2 times with regular use of Dabur Chyawanprash as compared to the control group.

Chyawanprash Can Protect From Severe Infection  of Covid-19: Ayurvedic Study

The study was started in May last year on 200 Covid-19 negative healthcare professionals in India who were equally divided into two groups – Study and Control.

There was no incidence of Covid-19 cases in any group at the end of the study period i.e. on the 30th day.“However, in the long term follow-up after completion of the intervention period, the participants in the study group were found to be more protected from a severe infection of Covid-19 as only two participants were RT-PCR positive after 2 months of completion of the study period and both were asymptomatic,” Prof (Dr) Vidula Gujjarwar, the Director and Principal of the hospital said. “On the other hand in the Control group, four participants were RT-PCR positive in the same duration, and one out of them had to be hospitalized,” Prof (Dr) Gujjarwar said.
