Nepali women’s football team in quarantine in Uzbekistan

KATHMANDU: The Nepali national women’s football team has reached Tashkent, Uzbekistan for the AFC Women’s Asia Cup 2022 qualifiers. The 33-member team, which left Kathmandu for Uzbekistan at 11 pm on Monday, reached Tashkent at midnight on September 14 is in quarantine there.

A swab sample has been collected to test the team’s PCR as soon as they arrived in Tashkent. The team will stay at Hotel Quarantine until the PCR report is received.

“The players have come a long way. So rest is important,” says head coach Gary Phillips.

Phillips said the team would rest completely during the quarantine period.

Nepal in Group F will face the Philippines on September 18 and Hong Kong on September 21.
