Govt responsible for budget holiday: UML leader Nembang

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Deputy Leader Subash Nembang has said that the government was responsible for inviting the situation of a budget holiday. He said so while talking to media at Biratnagar Airport Wednesday.

Stating that the government ended the previous session of the parliament in order to split his party, Nembang also said the government was not concerned about the timely passage of the budget.

Himself a former Speaker, Nembang clarified that the UML obstructed the parliament as a form of protest against the role of the Speaker in party split, which he viewed as discriminatory.

“Why haven’t the ruling parties done anything to smoothly run the parliament when the main opposition has been protesting for some time? As is the case, the Speaker should be holding multiple meetings to resolve the deadlock.”

He added the parliament was postponed till September 21, which meant the government is not serious about passing the budget.
