Top brass leaders spoiled not people: Maoist Center Chair Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the top brass of leaders had been spoiled while the people were just the same after successive people’s movements.

Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the seventh memorial meeting of Maoist leader Posta Bahadur Bogati Wednesday, Chairman Prachanda said, “The people are not spoiled, neither are party cadres. But it has been confirmed that only the leadership that sees an opportunity to benefit by engaging in factionalism were spoiled.”

He claimed that the Maoist party would again be the number one party in the country. He also recalled that people speculated that Maoists would be limited to a handful of seats after the people’s movement in 2007 but the party emerged as the leading force.

On a different note, he said that time might again come where everybody needed to hit the streets. He remarked that they will have to take to the streets to amend the constitution. Remembering that there were differing views among leaders while promulgating the constitution, Prachanda stressed the need to amend the constitution.
