UML urges govt to be serious towards Ex- British Gurkhas’ demand for equal pension right

KATHMANDU: The CPN (UML) has demanded the government that it immediately took a diplomatic step to address the issues of Ex-British Gurkhas who have been demanding pension rights equal to their British counterparts.

In a press statement today, party Spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said the voices of Ex-British Gurkhas for equal pension rights are valid and the erstwhile government had repeatedly urged the British governments to address the concerns of the retired Gurkha soldiers.

The Ex-Gurkhas had a history of bravery, suffering, and sacrifices in the British Army, the party reminded.

The party has drawn the government’s attention towards taking diplomatic efforts to address the issues bearing in mind the over two-hundred-year-old historic relations between the two countries based on the principles of equality.
