India celebrates its 75th Independence Day



NEW DELHI: India is observing its 75th Independence Day on Sunday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort for the 75th Indian Independence Day, India Today has reported.

This year, PM Modi has been joined by India’s latest batch of Olympians who won medals in the Tokyo Olympics, including Neeraj Chopra, who won the gold medal in javelin throw, it said.

Ahead of the address, PM Modi visited Rajghat and also received the guard of honor at Red Fort.

Meanwhile, security has been ramped up across Delhi and Red Fort for the mega Independence Day event on Sunday while security forces across the country have been put on high alert around the vital installations.
