UML Karnali PP meeting on hold as newly reinstated lawmakers abstain

SURKHET: Karnali Parliamentary Party meeting of ruling CPN-UML has been uncertain after newly reinstated provincial lawmakers abstain from the meeting.

The meeting which was called for 8 am has not started until 12 pm.

Supreme Court on Monday reinstated UML provincial lawmakers Prkash Jwala, Ambar Bahadur Thapa, Kurma Raj Shahi and Nanda Singh Budha.

They had crossed the floor to support the government led by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of CPN (Maoist Center).

Three UML provincial lawmakers are ministers in the provincial government except Prakash Jwala.

The meeting has been called prior to the budget presentation in the Provincial Assembly scheduled for today.

UML has asked the four provincial lawmakers who were reinstated yesterday to attend the provincial meeting today.

Even though UML has 20 seats in the 39-member provincial assembly, the government has already been rendered into minority and the meeting has been called to dwell on the government, said Chief Whip Gulab Jung Shah.
