KMC to unveil its policies and programs on June 17



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is to present the Policies and Programmes for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2021/22 on Thursday, June 17.

Like in the current fiscal year, the KMC’s policies and programs for the next fiscal are mainly focused on prevention and control of coronavirus pandemic and alleviating the adverse impact it has caused.

KMC spokesperson Ishwar Man Dangol said, “Completing the projects which are in operation in the current fiscal year but which could not be concluded due to various reasons is also the main topic of the policies and programs.

Similarly, alleviating the economic, social, and cultural problems due to the coronavirus pandemic is also majorly included in the programs.”

The 61st meeting of the KMC municipal executive has already been held before this under the chairmanship of Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya for bringing the Policies and Programmes for FY 2021/22 on June 17.

Mayor Shakya has urged the Chair of all the 32 wards of the metropolis to collect the works that have to be carried out in the coming fiscal year in the form of plans and forward these by getting them prioritized from the Ward Committee Meeting.

KMC had allocated a budget of Rs 15.50 billion for the current fiscal year. Out of this budget allocation, Rs 3.95 billion was earmarked for the physical infrastructure sector. Only 25 percent of this budget has been spent so far.
