NC senior leader Poudel reiterates call for protests against HoR dissolution



KATHMANDU: Senior Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel has reiterated his call to the people to come together to protest the government’s decision of dissolving the House of Representatives.

Giving a video message on Friday, Poudel said even Prime Minister KP Oli has admitted that the dissolution of the parliament was illegal.

“Prime Minister Oli has said that the decision to dissolve the HoR was a political one, not legal,” Poudel said while calling people to raise their voices against the unconstitutional and undemocratic move.

Poudel warned of unfortunate circumstances of the parliament was not reinstated.

“The unconstitutional act of dissolving the parliament would plunge the country into darkness,” he said adding, “PM Oli’s move has caused great damage to the constitution.”

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress is organizing nationwide protest rallies on January 16.

NC is organizing nationwide protests against the dissolution of the House in all 753 local units of the government on Saturday.

The party, meanwhile, took to the streets on December 28 in all 165 electoral constituencies, and in all 330 provincial electoral constituencies January 9.
