KATHMANDU: Domestic flights have been hit due to thick fogs and clouds in various districts on Friday.

According to Raj Kumar Chhetri, the spokesperson at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the domestic flight services will not operate at Biratnagar, Bhadrapur, Janakpur, Simara, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj and Dhangadhi unless the visibility improves.

However, the international flights are operating. Around 90 domestic flights operate on a daily basis when the weather is clear. But this number of flights has gone done due to the poor visibility, said Chhetri.

For the smooth operation of international flights, a 1,500-meter visibility is required while for the required visibility for domestic flights depends on the nature of the aircraft, shared Chhetri.
