Lawmaker Tripathi announces ‘People’s Progressive Party’



KATHMANDU: Lawmaker Hridayesh Tripathi has announced a new political party ‘People’s Progressive Party’ amidst a press meet in Kathmandu Tuesday.

Nepali Congress (NC) leader and former speaker Daman Nath Dhungana, economist Rameshwar Khanal and Tulnarayan Sah, among others, are in the newly announced the party.

The new party also has another lawmaker Brijesh Kumar Gupta.

ripathi had won the seat of lower house of parliament after contesting 2017 elections under the CPN-UML election symbol Sun. Likewise, Gupta also won the election from Kapilvastu under the UML’s Sun symbol.

Though both the lawmakers legally represent UML in the parliament, they were not active in the party. They had been working by forming independent political groups.
