NC General Convention: Deuba taking a lead so far



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has maintained a lead in the vote count followed by leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala.

According to the Election Committee, with one thousand votes counted so far, Deuba is leading with 473 votes while his nearest rival Koirala getting 376 votes so far.

Other presidential candidates Bimalendra Nidhi has got 49 votes, Prakash Man Singh 91 votes and Kalyan Gurung 3 votes as of now.

The counting of votes for the party president has started at 4 am on Tuesday.

Out of 4,743 voters, 4,679 have cast their votes in the General Convention held on Monday.

According to the NC statute, 51 percent of votes are required to be elected as the President of the party.
