Parliament meeting to begin today; UML likely to obstruct



KATHMANDU: The session of the House of Representatives (HoR) is starting today. The session of the federal parliament has been called at 2 pm.

However, the main opposition CPN-UML, which is adamant about its stance of not allowing lawmakers of the Unified Socialist Party, is likely to obstruct the parliamentary meeting today.

“We have not changed our position,” UML leader Pradeep Gyawali, adding, “The Speaker has to be neutral, not act as a party leader.”

Meanwhile, lawmakers on Monday underwent coronavirus screening to participate in Tuesday’s House meeting.

Issuing a notice on Monday, the federal parliament secretariat had asked the Speaker, chairman of National Assembly, deputy chairman, lawmakers of both the Houses, general secretaries and secretaries, marshals, security personnel among others to undergo coronavirus testing Monday.
