Eleven injured in avalanche in Mustang

KATHMANDU: Eleven persons of Kobang have been injured while escaping from an avalanche that fell from Tukuche or Manapathi Mountain of Mustang on Sunday.

The avalanche that fell for about 30 minutes caused the locals to fearfully run for their lives, ensuing a ruckus. Locals in Kowang, Larjung and Naurikot areas haphazardly fled due to fear of the avalanche.

Teachers and students of local Janadarsha Amarsingh High School sustained injuries while escaping the snow slide. Students and teaches ran away from the classroom after the snow slide began falling while the class was underway.

Residents living in nearby houses have been evacuated as the risk of avalanche is still high. According to Mustang Police, students were shifted to a safer place. A team from District Police Office, Mustang has reached Kobang.

Mustang Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said there were no other human casualties as of now.
