KATHMANDU: Irate advocates of Nepal Bar Association have been further irked after Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana entered the Supreme Court through the back door.

Chief Justice Rana entered the office amidst a sit-in being staged by the lawyers of Nepal Bar at the main entrance of the apex court demanding resignation of Rana.

Agitating advocates have maintained that they would rather die of hunger but not adjourn their protest until the exit of Rana.

“To stage a sit-in at the entrance does not mean that the other gate is open. Chief Justice Rana has entered the office through the back door, which is illegal,” Supreme Bar Association Chairman and senior Advocate Purna Man Shakya said.

He further said that the agitation which has continued for the last three weeks will stop only after Rana resigns from his post. “We will rather die of hunger but will not let out agitation die down.”

Nepal Bar has launched a nationwide demonstration against Rana from today. The district courts in Kavre and in the Kathmandu Valley, special court and tribunals have been affected due to continuous protests.

Nepal Bar Association has been staging demonstrations since October 31, demanding resignation of Chief Justice Rana.
