Nepal Bar launching nationwide protest from today

To stage sit-in at both gates of Supreme Court

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bar Association is launching a nation-wide protest against Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana starting today.

Nepal Bar has been staging protests against Chief Justice Rana since October 31, demanding his resignation.

Nepal Bar Chair Chandeshwor Shrestha said the district and unit level chapters will be mobilized from today. Agitating Nepal Bar advocates who barred Chief Justice Rana from entering the office on Friday are preparing to stage sit-ins at both the gates of the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, all the 19 Supreme Court Justices are also upping the ante against Rana. They have been boycotting benches assigned by Rana. The government has initiated discussions to resolve the stalemate seen in the judiciary following pressures from all quarters.

Senior leader of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the ruling coalition will come up with a common view and resolve the judicial deadlock at the earliest.
