Journo Dixit files FIR against defamation circulated via fake ‘MCC’ document



KATHMANDU: Senior journalist and civil society leader Kanak Mani Dixit has lodged a complaint with the police alleging that ‘fake documents’ circulated under the name of ‘MCA-Nepal’ has smeared his character.

Stating that such false propaganda has tarnished his honor and reputation, journalist Dixit has demanded the police to find the culprit and take action according to cyber law.

One day prior to Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Vice Chair Fatema Sumar’s visit to Nepal, a fake document had been circulated defaming some civil society leaders, media houses and writers.

A statement from Millennium Challenge Account Nepal Development Committee (MCA) Nepal had, on Monday, clarified that the document circulated in the social media talking about MCC’s propaganda was false.

“MCA Nepal has taken serious note of the exaggerated and fraud messages being spread on social media regarding the MCA Nepal, we alert the concerned people about the fake messages,” MCA-Nepal’s statement said.

MCA-Nepal has stated that it has written to cyber-bureau of Nepal Police for investigation on the issue.
