Deuba, Prachanda, Nepal to keep fighting for constitution, democracy

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal have adopted a common resolve to fight for constitution and democracy and decided not to let misunderstandings dilute their resolve and partnership.

The three leaders met at leader Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor Monday evening. For a change, the leaders met at Nepal’s residence this evening against their usual meeting venue — Deuba residence in Budhanilkantha.

NC General Secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka had accompanied Deuba to Koteshwor. According to Khakda, the leaders decided to expand their partnership from local levels to the center.

After the meeting, Khadka said, “The leaders have decided to strengthen their alliance to address the issues of constitution, democracy and the people. They have expressed commitment to be aware of possible moves to increase mistrust among them and stand firm against the unconstitutional move of the Oli government.”

They also objected to the government’s interference on issues that are under consideration in the Supreme Court by various means. They also concluded that the constitutional bodies, including the Election Commission, had acted in the interest of the government.

The meeting also deduced that the government had failed to manage vaccination for the people and had been indifferent towards the poor who have been affected by the prohibitory orders.
