Major donor organizations provide medical support

KATHMANDU: Three major donor organizations namely Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple (China), Shanghai Jue Qun Cultural & Educational Foundation (China), Tan Ngak Buay, and Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore) have donated oxygen concentrators and much medical equipment to Nepal to help it in its fight against the second wave of COVID-19.

The assistance is provided through the Shangpa Foundation to four national hospitals in Nepal. The Foundation has expressed gratefulness to the donors for rendering this much-needed lives-saving support to Nepal in these trying times.

In a simple ceremony, Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple, represented by Shangpa Foundation, handed over 500 pieces of oxygen concentrators; 5,000 disposable oxygen masks; 23,475 units of N99 and N95 surgical masks; 125,000 units of surgical and medical gloves; 2,180 googles; 8,398 bottles of disinfectants and 1,200 PPE, amounting to NPR51.28 million (RMB 2.8 million) to the officials of four National Hospitals namely Dhulikhel Hospital; Kirtipur Hospital; Lumbini Hospital and Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Pokhara.

We also wish to thank The Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, The Honorary Consulate of Nepal in Shanghai, and Dhulikhel Hospital, Kathmandu for their tireless and philanthropic logistics support.

Without their indispensable assistance, the timely delivery of medical supplies would not be possible, the Shangpa Foundation said in a press release.

Shangpa Foundation was established in 2006 and has been active in humanitarian works in Nepal such as the 2015 major earthquake and 2019 COVID-19 pandemic.
