Arrogant attitude among top leaders main obstacle for party unity: UML leader Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Ruling CPN-UML has been on the brink of the collapse after the top-notch leaders of the party hobnobbed and extended cooperations with the leaders of the other parties rather than that of their own.

Posting a status on social media, youth leader Yogesh Bhattarai said, “Comrade KP Oli is not willing to cooperate with senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and  Madhav Nepal but ready to do so with Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato for power sharing. Similarly, Khanal and Nepal are ready to cooperate with Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prachanda and Upendra Yadav for an alliance but not willing to do so with party chair Oli.”

Commenting on Bhattarai’s post, Facebook friends have said that if the second-rung leaders strike unity, the senior leaders will be compelled to come to terms.

There have been no conversation these days between the top leaders who are at the helm of the party in the ruling UML at a time when the second rung leaders are intensifying talks.

The leaders are engaged in trading blames rather than creating environment conducive for striking unity in the party.

Bhattarai has concluded that the arrogant attitude of the senior leader is the main cause behind the failure to resolve the intra-party feud.
