SC to conduct hearing virtually



KATHMANDU: With the increase in the cases of coronavirus cases all over the country, the Supreme Court (SC) has decided to start hearing the cases virtually soon.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, the SC has stated that a full court meeting decided to use virtual medium for hearing on the cases.

“In order to reduce the risk of coronavirus infection and keep the service continued, the court administration will make necessary arrangements to conduct the hearing of the case in the Supreme Court using virtual technology,” the statement reads.

The SC Joint Spokesperson Devendra Dhakal informed that the SC has decided to expand its service from Sunday.

“The SC has decided to initiate a hearing on the cases relating to the interpretation of the Constitution and the rights of the citizen,” Dhakal said.

According to sources, the writ petitions of urgent nature under Articles 133 and 137 of the Constitution, which contain sensitive issues related to the interpretation of the Constitution, fundamental rights and questions of public concern, will be registered and heard.
