Govt will not go for lockdown as far as possible: PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government will introduce other preventive measures to control COVID-19 pandemic and will not go for lockdown as far as possible.

Addressing the nation on the occasion of New Year 2078, Prime Minister Oli said the government will not impose lockdown as far as possible. “It will try its best to curb the surging COVID-19 through other preventive measures such as the introduction of new health protocols. The government will go for the lockdown only when all the preventive measures fail to curb the pandemic,” said Prime Minister Oli.

Boasting about the government achievements made during his stint, Oli said around 12 residential houses are being constructed on a daily basis. Similarly, five and a half kilometers of road is being constructed on a daily basis.

He went on to say the Dharahara will get completion in the next 10 days.  Similarly, mero kitta (my plot) digital campaign has been initiated as part of the government achievements in order to enable people to spot their plot of land online, he informed.

He further said the Sunkoshi diversion project has been expedited from where 31-megawatt electricity will be generated and around 185,000 bighas of land will be irrigated in the Terai region. As many as 197 hospitals have been inaugurated and that their construction works will be expedited in this New Year, boasted Oli

Speaking on the occasion, he also wished happiness, health and prosperity to all the Nepali people living at home and abroad on the occasion of New Year while urging them to adopt health safety measures to keep themselves safe from the coronavirus pandemic.

Similarly, PM Oli is also scheduled to meet with editors from various media outlets today.
