Maoist Center’s CC meeting begins at Paris Danda

KATHMANDU: A Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) led by Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda has started at its central party headquarters in Paris Danda on Sunday.

An amendment to the party statute for reformations in the organizational structure, power-sharing and actions against 23 Maoist Center leaders including Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa who defected to the CPN-UML are the agenda of the meeting, said party sources.

According to a CC member of the Maoist Center, the CC meeting convened today is likely to take action against those who recently joined the CPN-UML.

UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Oli convened a CC meeting on Friday (March 12) and nominated 23 former leaders of the Maoist Center to the central committee of the CPN-UML, leaving the disgruntled faction in the dark. Of them, seven are ministers in the Oli-led cabinet.

Issuing a 24-hour ultimatum, a CC meeting of the Maoist Center held on March 29 called back its ministers participating in the Oli-led cabinet.

“Preparations are underway to take actions against its seven ministers participating in the Oli-led government,” said the Maoist Center leader.

If the actions are taken against these representatives, they will lose the post of lawmakers as per the provision laid down in the Political Party Act, 2017.
