Prachanda-Nepal faction rules out election without resolving NCP dispute

KATHMANDU: The dissident faction led by Prachanda-Nepal of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has ruled out the possibility of general election without resolving the disputes in the party.

The faction reiterated its stance during a discussion held at the Election Commission on Sunday.

The leader of the Prachanda-Nepal faction Lila Mani Pokhrel said that the election cannot be held without resolving the disputes within the party.

“How can the elections be held without resolving the disputes of the party that has 64 percent of the votes?” Pokhrel asked adding “Elections cannot be conducted without addressing it.”

The EC is yet to give authenticity to the party and its election symbol. Earlier, the EC had recognized the 441-member central committee of the party.

The EC had on Sunday discussed the election code of conduct with the party representatives. As many as 14 parties were present in the discussion.

The government has announced general elections on April 30 and May 10.
