Biplav outfit announces protest against arrest of leaders



KATHMANDU: The Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav outfit has announced an agitation against the arrest of leaders including Western Command in-charge and secretariat member Dharmendra Bastola ‘Kanchan’.

General Secretary Biplav has announced a five-day agitation in a press release.

The statement said that a nationwide protest rally would be held on January 16, a protest rally on January 18, a protest assembly on January 20, a torch rally on January 21, and Nepal Bandh on January 23.

‘Kanchan’ was arrested from Gimdi of Lalitpur, a border area of Lalitpur and Makwanpur by a special police team deployed from Kathmandu and Lalitpur.

Bastola is also a member of the faction’s secretariat and head of the Foreign Department.

Likewise, Bibek Kumal considered close to the outfit’s Spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma ‘Prakanda’ has also been arrested along with Bastola.

Police have also arrested Prakash Shahi and another leader named Biswas along with Bastola, police sources have said.
