KATHMANDU: A Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is taking place on Thursday.

The meeting will take place at Peris Danda in Koteshwor at 3 pm, informed SC member Yubaraj Gyawali.

It is learnt that the meeting will dwell on how to make the ongoing protest rallies against the dissolution of the House of Representatives more effective.

Meanwhile, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Madhav Kumar Nepal had on Wednesday evening urged Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to support their agenda of reinstating the House of Representatives (HoR) while proposing power sharing with Nepali Congress.

During the meeting, leaders of the Prachanda-Nepal faction emphasized on a joint agitation against the government as it would be more effective than taking to the streets separately.

Deuba, however, said his party would prefer to go alone rather than maing an alliance with the Prachanda-Nepal faction since the case if sub-judice, according a source.

Prachanda and Nepal, according to the source, had proposed formation of a coalition government after the reinstatement of the House.

Deuba, meanwhile, called the dissolution of the House as “unconstitutional and undemocratic” saying that his party was already in the streets against the move.
