NC 14th Gen Convention: Voting halts due to shortage of ballot papers

Over 2,000 votes were cast till 5:00 pm, says party's Election Committee

KATHMANDU: Voting has stopped due to a shortage of ballot papers in the Nepali Congress’ (NC) 14th general convention.

Voting under the general convention began at around 11 am Monday morning after a delay of nearly three hours and has been extended until 9 pm. There are two voting stations at Bhrikutimandap and one at Rastriya Sabhagriha.

As existing ballot papers were finished before the voting period, delegates have been waiting for more ballot papers to arrive.

According to NC Election Committee sources, the ballot papers distributed earlier have finished and the new ballot papers brought from the press are being signed by election officers before distribution.

According to the Election Committee, 3,000 ballot papers have already been distributed and 1,700 ballot papers have just been printed and brought to voting booths.

The delegates of the General Convention have been chanting slogans as they are not able to cast their votes after all of the existing ballot papers were insufficient.

Over 2,000 votes were cast till 5.00 pm today, according to the election committee.
