Unified Socialist’s plenary CC meet ends for today; to resume tomorrow

KATHMANDU: The second plenary meeting of CPN-Unified Socialist’s Central Committee (CC) has concluded for Saturday and will resume Sunday.

During the CC meeting that began at Heritage Plaza in Sanepa, Lalitpur, Saturday, officials of the Central Discipline Commission, Accounts Commission and Election Commission were sworn in.

Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal addressing the meeting said Nepal’s expensive electoral system should be changed. He also advocated against surrendering national interests.

In the CC meeting, party’s Honorary leader Jhala Nath Khanal presented an ideological political report. On the occasion, he said that people’s multi-party democracy could no longer be the guiding principle of the party. He argued that the Unified Socialist was formed after the CPN-UML failed to achieve the socialist revolution.

Claiming that they had revolted against individualistic tendencies instead of splitting from the UML, Khanal said that the Unified Socialist could only lead the socialist revolution. He was of the view that many UML cadres could join the party as they were still confused in the mother party.

During the CC meeting today, Chief Minister of Province 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai and Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Rajendra Pandey briefed about the future plans of the provincial governments, said party’s Chief of Publicity Department Jagannath Khatiwada.

The CC meeting is scheduled to approve the various works done by the central secretariat and bodies on Sunday.

The party said the CC meeting will conclude on Sunday by passing various resolutions.
