PM Deuba congratulates Nepali football team for securing final place in SAFF Championship

Nepal advances to SAFF final after 1-1 draw against Bangladesh



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has congratulated the Nepali football team for securing a place for the final in the SAFF Championship underway in Male, the capital of the Maldives.

Nepal has played1-1 goal draw against Bangladesh on Wednesday to reach the SAFF championship final for the first time in history.

Prime Minister Deuba took to Twitter to congratulate the Nepali team on Wednesday evening. He has also extended best wishes to the team Nepal for future endeavors.

“I would like to congratulate all players, coach and officials of the Nepali football team to bring the country to SAFF football championship and also encourage for future successful inning”, Deuba wrote in his tweet.

Suman Rija of Bangladesh had netted the first goal in the ninth minute of the match held at Male-based National Stadium. Nepal’s Anjan Bista had leveled up the goal in a penalty shootout in the 88th minute.

The final match of the tournament is scheduled to take place on coming Saturday.
