Rakuten Viber launches Custom Lens in partnership with Coca Cola to celebrate Dashain

KATHMANDU: Rakuten Viber has partnered with Coca Cola introducing a new branded augmented reality (AR) Lens to celebrate Dashain.

The custom AR Lens will allow users to share virtual greetings, fun moments, and other festival-related expressions with their friends and loved ones on Viber, a statement issued by Rakuten Viber said.

The powerhouse partnership between Rakuten Viber and Coca-Cola, the world’s leading messaging app and the world’s largest beverage company aim to bring a range of exciting features and activities in the upcoming months for its Nepalese users, it said.

The partnership kickstarts with its very first Viber Lens launching in time with the Dashain festival this year.

The Dashain Lens from Coke will be the first of the many interesting features to be introduced through this exciting collaboration, according to the statement.

Viber typically introduces a range of new features around upcoming festivals and events, and these Dashain Lenses from Coke are just a continuation of this trend featuring their most latest and exciting feature yet, the statement added.

Simply launch Viber’s camera within chats and pick one of the following filters to add festival cheer to your conversations;

“Nepal has always been one of our key markets and we have been keen on finding ways to help our Nepalese users celebrate their local festivals and make it even more fun,” David Tse, Senior Director of Rakuten Viber, said.

“The new Viber Lenses with Coca-Cola company is one way of offering our Nepalese users something truly special during one of their biggest holidays,” he added.

The statement adds Viber has always been keen on helping users express themselves more creatively on its messaging platform present in over 190+ countries, without limiting conversation to “just words,” particularly during those days when people miss having personal face-to-face catch-ups.

“And these customized branded Lenses definitely injects playfulness into chats with family and friends,” it added.

Speaking about the partnership with Viber, Adarsh Avasthi, Country Director Nepal & Bhutan, Coca-Cola said, “This Dashain, Coca-Cola and Viber are joining hands to bring unique, fun, and contextual lenses that are sure to bring in excitement to its users and refresh their conversations like our drinks do.  Express your gratitude and say Thank you to your loved ones through a Coca-Cola bottle and using the Viber lens.”
