Monetary policy assures continuation of refinancing to pandemic-affected industries



KATHMANDU: The government has assured continuation of refinancing to the coronavirus pandemic-struck industries and businesses in fiscal year 2021/22.

Making public the monetary policy brought by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Friday, Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari stated that prevalent provision of refinancing to the pandemic-hit industries has been continued in the current fiscal year as well.

“It has been decided to continue the monetary policy this year so as not to exceed the maximum limit given last fiscal year,” Governor Adhikari said, adding, “Refinancing facility will be provided to micro, cottage, small and medium enterprises on priority basis.”

Meanwhile, NRB stated that it will ensure the continuity of loan programs for the revival of industries, including the tourism business, communication, transport, party palace, gymnasium, and cinema and entertainment sector pushed to crisis due to coronavirus pandemic.
