UML holding Standing Committee meeting today

Likely to endorse 10-pt consensus deal

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Prime Minister of Nepal, has called a Standing Committee (SC) meeting today.

The SC meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar at 1 pm, informed UML party office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang.

The UML had also called a Central Committee meeting today but the time of the CC meeting will be fixed only following the SC meeting, said Tamang.

Senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal is likely to attend the SC meeting today. Leader Nepal on Monday said that he would not remain in the opposition alliance hinting that party unity has gained momentum.

A meeting of the UML Dispute Resolution Task-force on Sunday prepared a 10-pont consensus proposal on Sunday midnight.

Today’s SC meeting is likely to endorse the proposal. Even though the SC meeting was called for 5 pm Monday, it ended without entering into the formal agenda.

General Secretay Ishwar Pokharel has scheduled the SC meeting following the consultation with leader Bhim Rawal, a taskforce member representing Nepal-Khanal faction.
