Health Ministry recommends closure of schools for a month



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has recommended closing schools and educational institutions in major cities including Kathmandu Valley for one month.

The Ministry of Health has suggested the concerned continue with the studies through online classes during the period.

According to the Minister of Health Hridayesh Tripathi, a new variant of the coronavirus has been noticed among the youth and younger age groups.

The ministry has stated that the schools should remain closed for at least a month to break the chain.

According to the ministry, the issue of closing the schools was also discussed at the Covid-19 Management Center (CCMC) and the Council of Ministers.

Likewise, the Ministry recommended the closure of schools due to the recent rise of coronavirus cases in Nepal.

According to the Ministry, schools should be closed, and that classes should be taken online.

The Ministry has also urged one and all to follow health protocols strictly.
