Nepal-Khanal faction to launch nationwide campaign against Oli

KATHMANDU: The intra-party dispute of the ruling CPN-UML has touched a new height after party chairman KP Sharma Oli suspended four UML leaders including senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

The Nepal-Khanal faction has intensified campaigns against the party chair Oli, who is also the Prime Minister of Nepal, and formed parallel committees across the nation.

The disgruntled faction in a circular said it would launch a nationwide agitation against Oli on April 22, accusing the latter of conspiring to abolish the democracy.

The party chair should have moved accordingly after the Supreme Court restored the CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) on March 7 but has been carrying out activities unilaterally breaching the party statute, the faction said in the circular.

Speaking at a program on Monday, Prime Minister Oli has urged Nepal to return to the party by self-criticizing and warned to take further action if he did not stop engaging in factional activities.
