JSP leaders to meet with Maoist Center Chair Prachanda for power sharing today



KATHMANDU: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) is holding a meeting with CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanada on Saturday.

In the meeting, the top-notch JSP leaders and Dahal will hold talks on the latest political development including the government formation, according to sources.

The JSP, which has been the most decisive for the new power sharing following the Supreme Court’s verdict, met with President Sher Bahadur Deuba yesterday.

In the one-hour-long meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, JSP leaders Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Mahantha Thakur, Upendra Yadav, Rajendra Mahato floated their demands of releasing Resham Chaudhary, withdrawing cases filed against their leaders, cadres during the Madhes Movement and the amendment to the Constitution as a precondition of the alliance.

The JSP has also initiated internal talks with the ruling CPN-UML.

In the 275-member federal parliament, currently, CPN-UML has 121 seats, NC (63), CPN (Maoist Center) (53), JSP (34), Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP)-1, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP-1), Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM-1) and Independent has 1.  Of them, four lawmakers have been suspended and one has passed away.
