‘People’s war’ is still relevant: JSP leader Rai

KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) leader Ashok Rai has remarked that the relevance of the ‘people’s war’ is not over yet.

Speaking at the program organized to launch former Prime Minister and President of Federal Council of JSP Dr. Baburam Bhattarai’s book ‘Gumnam Amaharuko Katha’, JSP leader Rai said that the unarmed war for the agenda raised by then ‘people’s war’ is still necessary today.

According to Rai, the armed struggle of the then Maoist leadership was not just about bombs and ammunition but was also about ideas and principles.

“People’s war was not just about bombs and ammunition as judged from outside, it was also a war of ideas and principles and was based on ideology.” JSP leader Rai told commenting on the aspects the book has addressed, “The agendas of the movement are still relevant and People’s war needs to be continued today.”

He added that the country is witnessing various protests against the regression these days.
