OKHALDHUNGA: Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel has vowed that the government had the plan to increase senior citizen allowance to Rs 5,000 per month. DPM Pokharel said it while addressing a party gathering organized at Chishankhugadhi today.

The increase in senior citizens’ allowance would be ensured as per the promise made before people during the last election, he reminded. The DPM however said a section within the party did not like this scheme for implementation in the last fiscal year.

He argued that the government decided on a fresh mandate as it was cornered and barred from working smoothly. But, government works steadily for development and prosperity, DPM Pokharel underscored.

According to him, the Nepal Communist Party led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would be recognized as an authentic party getting the election symbol ‘Sun’.

On the occasion, Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Mani Thapa viewed that problems of drinking water would be solved gradually in the hilly districts including Okhaldhunga. He also asserted that development was gaining pace under the leadership of PM Oli. Those protesting the present government were hindering the development, he blamed.

Similarly, Chief Minister at Province-1 Sherdhan Rai termed the Prachanda-Nepal faction of NCP a private company.

He also accused the faction of polluting country politics thereby forcing the government to go for a fresh poll. Those dubbing PM’s move unconstitutional were themselves acting against the rule, CM Rai blamed.

Minister of State for Physical Infrastructure Development Ambar Babur Gurung shared information about the initiatives he took for the development in Okhaldhunga district.

A local NCP leader Ashok Thapa said the program was organized to build public trust in favor of PM Oli.
